Book Of The Month

On this page you can find a list of all our books of the month.

Book of the month is run (funnily enough) every month and you can vote on it in the polls down the side bar. Voting is now open for our May book of the month, so get voting!

In honour of the book of the month we do a post, put its picture in the side bar and do a special poll pertaining to the book in the side bar.

If you would like to suggest a book for book of the month please just leave a comment and we will try to include it in the next book of the month poll.

Also if you want to leave a comment about any of the books in book of the month (current and past) that would be great. We love hearing other peoples opinions of books.

Book of The Month July: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

Well, there you have it, but the polls are now up for our August BoTM, so get voting!

  1. That book sounds great :) I think i am going to run straight to the book store straight away as you 2 suggested. And I have been giving it some thought and i think that i would pick...Dauntless...or maybe Candor? Both could be good.

    1. it was pretty good, but we base our results on the polls we put up, not personal opinion. If you want comment what some of these "way better" books, i'd love to hear them :D!
However we do need to use widely known books in our polls to encourage votes.

I agree with you for the most part. The Hunger Games does have a lot of recognition however it is not us who choose the book of the month rather voters (see right side column for current poll) so we don't have any influence.
As to the allegations of the book being 'ok' I think thats mostly a matter of opinion and even though I personally thought the whole series was only ok too, there must be something there for it to have gotten all the for-mentioned publicity.

  8. Hey Hunger Games Book 1 was great. The following two were okay. Looking forward to the movie but so pleased I read the book first so the movie doesn't ruin it for me. But the movie hype is getting my friends to read the book so that is good.

  9. Hey movie was good but not sure about the ending. Rather abrupt. Not very satisfying for the cinema goer.

    2. I see what you mean about the ending but by doing so it was very true to the books. And if they had put in them discussing it then that would have just confused people who had not read the book. Overall however in my eyes a big success although I do wonder how much of the suspense came form my own mind -having read and loved the book- and how much was from the actual movie.
